You're Invited!

ADD A LITTLE JOY TO YOUR LIFE!

DISCOVER THE FUN AND HIGHLY SOCIAL

CONTEMPORARY PRECISION CLOG DANCING

Enjoy 2 FREE introductory sessions in the month of September.

The clog dance is form of step dancing, done to a wide variety of music.

Largely low impact, the steps are continuously cued by an instructor.

Once accomplished, you add double stainless steel taps to the toe & heel of each shoe.

Your first opportunity to try clog dancing for free is Friday Sept. 15th.

Overall, choose from 3 different days and times in Kelowna or West Kelowna:

11:00 am Fridays (starting Sept. 15) - Village Dance Academy, 1868 Spall Road, Kelowna

6:00 pm Mondays (starting Sept. 18) - Westside Activity Centre, 3661 Old Okanagan Hwy,

West Kelowna

6:30 pm Wednesdays (starting Sept. 20) - Village Dance Academy, 1868 Spall Road, Kelowna

Men and women of all ages are welcome, including children aged 8 up.

Consider making it a fun & healthy family recreation!

Casual attire, wear smooth soled shoes with a low heel & a firm back. Bring water.

In this post-pandemic environment you may be seeking social interaction

after a long period of isolation. Clogging guarantees that.

Furthermore, the firestorms and widespread smoke that descended upon

most of the Okanagan Valley created very stressful situations.

You were possibly put on alert to evacuate or ordered to evacuate for safety reasons

and might even have lost your home and possessions.

This recreation can return a little joy to your life.

For lesson fees beyond the two free introductory sessions

ABOUT US

We are a fun-loving non-profit group who enjoy Contemporary Precision Clog Dancing.

We meet weekly to dance, usually from September to June.

We maintain two different dance venues; one in the city of Kelowna and the other in the

city of West Kelowna. Each location dances on a different day and at a different time from the other.

Originating as an American folk dance, clogging is a form of step dancing that’s largely done flat-footed.

The clog dancer has a choice whether to participate at low, medium or high energy levels and,

in the contemporary style, cloggers today appear to glide over the floor.

It’s a dance form for all ages and sexes that’s particularly popular with women

because you don’t need a partner.

Clogging is done in a variety of styles. Most cloggers dance in the Contemporary Precision Style

but have some knowledge of the traditional, freestyle, flatfoot or buck styles.

The levels of progression and challenge in clog dancing are generally:

  1. Beginner

  2. Easy Intermediate

  3. Intermediate - The level that’s most comfortable for the majority of dancers

  4. Advanced

Successful CLOGOVER VINE 2023 event

Our club's annual Clogover Vine Workshop Weekend

(named after an actual clog dance step)

took place over June 2, 3 & 4, 2023.

It was wonderfully successful with a record 76 clog dancers attending

from near and far for dance fun and fellowship.

The guest instructor was Darolyn Pchajek of Winnipeg

(see her website at: https://www.daretoclog.com/).

The venue was the Westbank Lions Community Centre in West Kelowna

and the event opened on the Friday night with a wine & cheese meet and greet.

For the first time, we incorporated into the weekend program

a one hour public Introduction to Clog Dancing at 1:00 on the

Saturday afternoon. It was well-attended with 10 newcomers to clogging

coming to explore the dance form.

One of the participants said "I've come to see what clog dancing is all about."

She learned some steps, had fun and left her name with all the others

to be contacted when regular lessons start in September.

The 2024 installment of Clogover Vine will take place in early June.

As a member club in the
British Columbia Square & Round Dance Federation,
our June 2023 Clogover Vine Workshop Weekend
